 Happy 2008

Hi and welcome to the Readers’ Café – a place to gather and to share. Come enjoy one last round of holiday goodies before the exercise bikes and running shoes are pulled out of the closet.

There’s eggnog, mulled wine and other yummy goodies on the table. Please help yourself. Then sit back, take a deep breath and feel your worries melt away. Join in the conversation by posting comments below. We’re a friendly bunch; no need to be shy.

Hit your internet browser’s REFRESH button to see new comments as others join in the conversation. All that I ask is that you respect others and keep it relatively family-friendly. Also, keep in mind that this is a public space, so share what you feel comfortable sharing publicly.

Feel free to share your:

  • Best moments from 2007
  • New year’s resolutions
  • Dreams and goals for 2008
  • Word for 2008

Stay great in 2008!

If you enjoyed this post, consider buying me a chai tea latte. Thanks kindly.

Hi Glenda

One of my goals is to make my business grow by concentrating on podcasting and creating specialized videos for my target audience.

I also want to have more fun.

I’d say my goal is to help as many bloggers as I can to be better bloggers.

Word for 2008? My first thought was “Twitter”, but on second thought: consolidation.

That is quite possible too! I’m wondering if there’s an online community board to announce events such as Readers’ Cafe.

Here are my top 10 resolutions for 2008 …not in order of importance:

1. As a newly appointed member on the board of directors for UnitedSpinal.org in 2008 , devote enough time each month to make this new commitment really count as a positive impact in the lives of spinal cord injured or persons with spinal diseases.

2. Spend one weekend a month babysitting one or more grandkids ( 6 now!).

3. Keep loving AskPatty but love me even more in 2008

4. Make some romance happen in my life….good for the soul.

5. Less business more vacation travel in 2008 ….more vacation period!

6. Spend more time with family members especially my ill and aging parents

7. Walk dogs more often

8. Throw out all size 10 clothes…this is never gonna happen!

9. Plan time with my close girl friends monthly to just relax and hang out

10. Forgive all ills , resentments or hurts in 2007…leave them at the stroke of midnight New Years Eve and carry only love and joy into 2008.

Happy New Year to ALL!

[sorry for disappearing, my computer had a spasm]

Welcome Jody and Bob, thanks for dropping by. That is quite a list, Jody!

Comment by Bob Ewing

January 2, 2008 @ 5:38 pm

Jody your list is very focused, there are times when I find focus a challenge so many distractions.

Comment by Glenda

January 2, 2008 @ 5:43 pm

Bob, I hear ya on the distractions! So many exciting opportunities and technologies out there, it can be hard to focus.

Comment by Bob Ewing

January 2, 2008 @ 5:48 pm

There is always a bright shiny object calling for attention, but I am learning to sift through the distractions and use what helps and put aside the rest.

Comment by Glenda

January 2, 2008 @ 5:54 pm

How true, Bob. Focus is my mantra for this year. I want to learn how to use some of these toys effectively and ignore the rest. Which shiny objects have you found most helpful?

Comment by Bob Ewing

January 2, 2008 @ 6:09 pm

Digg helps me get the stories i write out, Facebook could be promising but also distracting, twitter is useful.

Comment by Glenda

January 2, 2008 @ 6:14 pm

Do you find digg is most for tech stories? I think facebook can be useful, if you ignore all of the dufus aps. I’m GlendaWH on Twitter.

Comment by Bob Ewing

January 2, 2008 @ 6:20 pm

Politics, science and tech stories are strong on digg, I am permafrog on twitter, yeah you could waste alot of time on facebook but as you say ignore the dufus and there is something there.

BTW, I signed up earlier today for the Blog for Year

I came to see where you had used my image. It looks great. I’m fascinated that you do all this with your thumb. I told my son, and although I can’t repeat his colourful language, he was impressed! I’m going to bookmark this page and return when I have time. A remarkable site.

My goal for 2008 is to increase in wisdom and patience.

This is great. Thanks for hosting it, Glenda. My main goal this year is to move! We work out of the home and want to continue doing that – but we’re growing too fast and running out of room. I want a bigger house with a full basement to put the office in — totally separate from living space.

AND… we’re working on a special project that will connect our authors (we publish books using POD) face-to-face. Not to mention, continuing our work with our petblog sponsor, Purina. Life in 2008 is looking good.

Congratulations, Glenda, on placing 3rd in Blog for a Year! I’ve been voting for you since I read your interview with Emma several months ago. I found your entry about SMART goals helpful, and will use it to clarify my (vague & perpetual) resolutions for this year. Good luck!
