I would like to wish you a Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

All of the best to you and your family in the New Year!

With the tail end of the swine flu hopefully departing, I am eager to get back into my groove, doing what I do. Yesterday my desk received a thorough de-papering and cleaning and is ready to go.  Now the left thumb needs engaging to get this office up to its full earning potential. After all, any office with a chandelier is destined for greatness!

On this week’s to-do list:

• Write my Fight for Preemies post for Tuesday. This event now has 383 bloggers uniting to raise awareness of our more fragile babies. Awesome!
• Get going on creating the website for a non-profit organization.
• Conduct an accessibility review on a lawyer’s newly redesigned blog.
• Finalize the details for this year’s ebook for raising funds to feed Christmas dinner to 100 people in need. This year, readers will choose which posts to include in “The Best of the Left Thumb Blogger…”. Stay tuned for details!

Wow, June 30th already?

That means 2009 is half over! Will the second half be as crazily busy, in an equally good way?

That means that tomorrow is Canada Day! With all that is happening around the world, I am even more thankful and grateful to be Canadian. The words “With glowing hearts we see thee rise, / The True North strong and free!” hold extra significance at the moment.

Happy Canada Day! Cherish the freedoms we have in this beautiful country.

Does anything more need to be said?

Wow, what a ride! In the last six weeks, I have:

• Totally rocked SOBCon09: Biz School for Bloggers!
• Presented on accessible recreation with SPARC BC (Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia) at the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) Symposium
• Enjoyed the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards as a nominee!
• Fulfilled my Treasurer’s duties at SPARC’s Annual General Meeting and resigned (for now) from the Board.

In that time, I have also:

• trekked to Harpo Studios in the rain and was nearly within patting distance of Oprah’s puppy Sadie. I even have proof!
• been stuck in Batman’s bathroom!
• remembered one friend, and
• reunited with another after dealing with a doorless bathroom.

Now, I am completely and totally drained. I am eagerly looking forward to a summer break! I’m looking forward:

• to laying in bed until mid-morning (or beyond), guilt-free, with the gentle breeze drifting in and my mind wandering.
• to summertime reading, including Pam Slim’s Escape from Cubicle Nation, which I began on the plane to Chicago. Imagine a business book that is actually funny! (Thanks Pam for the kind mention on page 130!)
• to finding the top of my desk and other buried corners of my home,
• to reclaiming the deck from the weeds, once the painters have finished this end of the building (Is it too late to plant pansies and petunias?), and
• to, most importantly, reconnecting with my sorely neglected husband and enjoying more views like the one below while on adventures around Vancouver:

“Summer’s here and the time is right
For dancing in the street.”

Dear Santa,

Christmas cards are mailed. Most presents are wrapped. Christmas dinner plans for nine have been downsized to two due to the eighteen inches of snow outside (and its still snowing!). About all that is left to do is to write your this letter.

I have left this to the last minute not because I am disorganized this year, but because I wasn’t sure what to write. You see, except for a few bumps, I have had a good year. I am feeling very blessed and content. There is nothing specific I would like to ask for. There are, however, things I would like to give to others, but they are beyond my means at the moment. Hopefully those things will find their way to the individuals by other means.

The one gift that I would like to ask for is that my family and friends, near and far, receive the one thing that they truly need at this point in their life’s journey.
